Tim Burton is an American artist and filmmaker  who was born in 1958 in Burbank California. As a child, Burton was fascinated with the classic horror films of Roger Corman .During his childhood he was always left out and considered odd in school so he started to draw  as a way to escape from the conformity of the suburbs. After graduating from Burbank High school,  he enrolled at the California Institute of Arts where he majored in Animation.

During his time there he developed an interest in drawing which after graduating from the institute in 1980 he began to work in the Walt Disney Studios as an animator. Then after a year of working in the Walt Disney he decided to work on his  own since he was disappointed that his style was totally different from the company’s style.

Tim Burton was also an artist before becoming a filmmaker in which he made more than 700 drawings, paintings  and other artistic representations which were exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York  during 2009 . However, Tim Burton was mainly known for his gothic, dark and horror art and films such as the Beetle Juice. Most of  Burton’s style for his artwork was gothic because of the heavy use of make-up and how most of his drawings and paintings are dark. Also the theme of death is common with   Burton’s artwork  which is often combined with poetry and derision.

Moreover, Burton's style is very recognizable, full of whirlwinds, stripes, seams, asymmetrical figure sand  winding staircases. In terms of colors , he often uses black and white which he sometimes  also uses bright colors .Through his drawings he captures feelings more quickly and efficiently than through words. And  lastly throughout his career most of his artwork is based  on simplicity and clarity.
