Keith Thompson is a freelance artist who creates art for movies, games, books and magazines. Keith Thompson focuses mainly on concept art for his work which is (according to google) ... a form of illustration” mostly used in the art forms listed. Thompson’s Most known work is the illustrations in the Leviathan Trilogy, and the designs in the film, “Don’t be afraid.” Keith Thompson fits into the gallery because his artwork is creepy and gruesome looking.

When Keith Thompson starts to draw or put his ideas onto paper, Keith usually starts off with graphite to create his lines and then does his work digitally to create the full picture. All digital work includes adding color, shadows and tuning with photoshop.

Keith Thompson’s usage of lines creates depth in his pieces. Keith Thompson also utilizes shadows and highlights to produce volume and depth as well to create a figure. Color also sets the tone of his work, Keith focuses mainly on muted, colors such as sepia, browns, blacks, grays and whites. Thompson also creates texture in his works by making his lines prominent in combination with shadow to make his figures look like you would be able to touch them. Thompson has a distinct pattern to his work, and anyone can tell if one of his works was his or not. With all these elements, Keith Thompson creates wicked, moody and scary art to portray to his audience.

Keith Thompson’s art conceptualizes his artwork by turning regular animals into deformed animals, adding creatures who don’t exist and adding a dark side. For example, Keith Thompson created a grim-reaper look-alike knowing that it does not exist in the real life, yet he added clothes that a pope would wear which makes it dark. Another example is a kid in hot air balloon but he hot air balloon is made up of weird veins, and bubbles that do not look inviting

or friendly. Each one of Keith Thompson’s work creates a sense of wickedness and evil in each piece, that it fits so well with our horror theme.
